The Scottish Six Days Trial is a Motorcycle Trial with a difference! It has the additional test of reliability over long distances with riders completing up to 100 miles each day over six consecutive days. Each day they will take on a combination of rough moorland, rocky tracks and public roads in the best - and worst - weather the Highlands of Scotland can throw at them!
Lochaber's annual agricultural/horse/food/craft show is held beneath the spectacular backdrop of Ben Nevis at Inverlochy Castle Farm, Happy Valley, by kind permission of Ewen Campbell. The show attracts around 1500 locals and visitors and is a celebration of what rural Lochaber has to offer. Entry is £8 for adults and £6 for concessions. Thanks to the generosity of our local sponsors all school children will have free entry this year.
Glenfinnan Highland Games is a must see for your itinerary if you are visiting Lochaber in August.
The Games location is superb - surrounded by mountains and water and not to forget the railway viaduct where the steam train goes by in the morning. Glenfinnan is where the Jacobites raised their battle standards to war on the English Crown.
Held on the first Sunday in August every year, this year's Games are on Sunday 5 August. Noted for its family friendly atmosphere, there is a lovely mix of children's and adults' events, Highland Dancing, Heavy Events, Piping and Athletics. We are also entertained by the Lochaber Schools Band and various other entertainments. It is also held in one of the most picturesque settings in Scotland. Contact for further information.
The Arisaig Highland Games open at 12 noon and will feature a Clan Donald Gathering hosted by the home clan, Clan Ranald. The venue is the scenic location of Traigh Farm, Arisaig with sweeping views across sandy beaches towards the Cuillins of Skye & the Small Isles of Eigg and Rhum.
The games are supported by many local businesses and the proceeds go to local charities. Many local groups have stalls on the day, and the W.R.I. provide teas to the committee and other guests.
After a fun race from Oban to Glencoe the previous day, we look forward to a great social day of sailing on Loch Leven.
